University opens international campus in Kazakhstan
Coventry University has celebrated the grand opening of a new international campus in Kazakhstan.
The new branch, in the capital Astana, will offer students a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses over the coming years.
The site would eventually serve up to 3,500 students, a university spokesperson said.
Prof John Latham CBE, Coventry University's vice-chancellor, said students across the world "deserve the chance to access top-quality higher education" and the new campus meant "opportunity is opening up to thousands more".
The grand opening has been hailed as a “major step forward” for UK-Kazakhstan education links
The British ambassador to Kazakhstan, Kathy Leach, hailed the new site as a “major step forward" for education links between the two countries.
"We’re delighted that a UK university will be offering a British education to a whole new group of students right here in Kazakhstan," she said.
